Due to a lack of readily available information many people purchase their pets from pet stores or high volume dog breeders. Unfortunately, many of these pets come from "puppy mills" who are in the business of breeding as many dogs as possible in order to make a sizeable profit, often at the expense of the puppies they are producing and dogs they are breeding. Not all dog breeders are alike and CRKA strongly encourages all people searching for a pet to research and ask questions of the person they purchase any canine from in order to ensure that the pet is a good fit for their home and personalities as well as to ensure the pet is of the best health. It is also important to remember that there are many great organizations that have canines for adoption and this avenue is a fantastic way to find a wonderfully loving pet.
